Food Matters

Imagine the car of your dreams.  See it in your driveway, brand new, right off the lot. It’s fast, it turns heads, and it runs like a gem. I assume you want it to always look and perform that way, right? I bet you might even pay top price for the premium gas that is needed to operate a high-performance machine like that. Putting regular gas in it just because the price is less is not an option!

So why do you put low-grade fuel into your body?

The thing is, a vehicle can always be replaced— your body can’t. What you do to your body today will either be a step towards flourishing health and vitality, or towards illness and disease—there is no neutral outcome. When it comes to the food you choose to put into your body, it is going to have one of two outcomes: heal or harm. High-grade food will promote thriving health and optimal levels of energy, while low-grade food will sap your energy and diminish your health. Much like low-grade fuel will not support optimal performance of your dream car, and eventually wear out the engine.

Much of what we consume is not food in it’s truest form. Instead it is a “food-like substance”. Sure, it may be edible, taste good, and fill your stomach, but it is leaving your body and brain undernourished. In fact, we live in an era where much of our population is overfed, and undernourished. In no other time in human history has this been so prominent. These food-like substances are void of any significant nutritional value that our bodies can utilize to promote health.

Don’t count calories, make calories count.

Too many diets focus on calories, and they’re vigilant with how much you’re eating, rather than what you’re eating. But your body doesn’t run on calories. Your body doesn’t even know what a calorie is. A calorie is simply a means measuring the energy value of foods. It’s what those calories are composed of that truly matters.

Your body craves nutrition. It operates on carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and each reaction in your body is facilitated by vitamins and minerals. Without these substances consistently being ingested, your body will begin to slow down, deteriorate, and eventually perish. However, your body is incredibly resilient when it is deprived of sustenance, but only for so long. Your body can only take so much abuse, until eventually it begins to manifest symptoms of illness and disease.

If you want a body that looks and feels incredible you must first consider what your body consists of. Fundamentally, you are composed of muscle, bones, and tissue—each made up of billions of cells that are being replaced each day. Have you ever thought about what these cells are made up of? Have you ever considered that the food you eat is replacing the billions of cells your body regenerates each day? That’s right—you literally are what you eat!

Take a moment now to consider what you have consumed over the last 24 hours. Are you composed of whole foods provided by nature? Or are you made up of some man-made refined substance that was derived in a factory? Food matters.

“Let food be they medicine and medicine be thy food”Hippocrates

The solution to many of our health problems is simple: eat foods that will promote a healing effect in your body and provide ample nutrients, while avoiding the foods that harm your body and are void of nutrients. Unfortunately, it is confusing as to which foods are just marketed as healthy, and which foods are actually healthy.

Take Action!

It is my mission to educate people on the complicated aspects of health and nutrition. So I have developed a strategy that will help people gradually take steps towards healing their bodies through nutrition. I have packaged it into a 10-week plan that will educate you on the power of food and provide action steps each week so you consistently progress.

If you are interested in taking control of your health and want to know more about how you can get on the plan, please contact me at eric@grandpt.com
